New Motto for Ethiopian
July, 2003 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

About a year ago we had started working on changing our tagline (motto) ‘Going to great lengths to please’ which we have used for several decades.

As part of this endeavor we had invited several stakeholders including staff and customers to participate in the historic exercise and submit suggestions.

Four hundred thirty-nine respondents submitted over 2200 alternate taglines. Sixteen individuals from among Executive Officers, Division Managers, Pilots’ Association and the Labor Union were further invited to come up with a short list.

After very thorough deliberations and brainstorming, a twenty member Ethiopian team comprising the CEO, all Executive Officers, Marketing Division Managers, Regional Managers and the staff of Promotions and Customer Services Division have finally selected the following to be Ethiopian’s tag line for the future:

‘Africa’s Link to the World’

AFRICA

► A continent we have dedicatedly and dependably served for 57 years,
► A region to whose aviation development we are committed as reaffirmed in our Mission Statement,
► A Continent where we were and will continue to be one of the dominant players.
► We have always strived towards ‘Bringing Africa Together’,
► The region where we offer the largest number of destinations – second to none.

LINK

Beyond just connecting places Ethiopian serves as a bridge for social, cultural, and commercial relations.

WORLD

Indeed, through the growing Addis hub and over 1000 city pairs every week, Ethiopian continues to be the link between Africa, the Middle East, Gulf, Asia, Europe, North America and more.
